How does it work?
Reflexology is a truly holistic treatment, taking care of both body and mind.
During an initial consultation, your reflexologist will ask you about your medical history, health issues, lifestyle and diet in order to establish a personalised, tailored plan of treatment which aims to address some of the health issues you may be experiencing. Depending on the symptoms which have brought you to a reflexology consultation (allergy, arthritis, depression or back pain…), each session will be tailored to address your specific needs.
A consultation will require you to lay down fully clothed on a massage table. It is advised to come in comfortable clothes which will allow you to fully benefit from the relaxation associated with a reflexology treatment. A sessions lasts between 50 and 60 minutes.
For Facial & Skull Reflexlogy sessions, a facial cleanser is applied on ladies wearing make up so that a sweet almond massage oil may be applied on the face and the shoulders during the treatment. Ladies are therefore advised to bring their own make up to be applied after the session.
A feeling of fatigue or complete relaxation is generally experienced after the first treatment. This gradually gives way to a feeling of regained vitality, a sign that the body is self-healing and recovering its natural balance. The objective is always to reach a long-lasting benefit, whereby the symptoms which brought you to Reflexology no longer present an issue in your life.
The choice between Foot and Facial reflexology is offered to the client and the practitioner will help identify which technique is the most appropriate according to the reason of the consultation.
Frequency of the treatments
The frequency and number of sessions required vary from one person to the next. Many factors can play a part in determining the best course of treatment for you, such as how long the dysfunction has been in place and how your metabolism reacts to the treatment. For some people, five or six sessions can be needed while others have seen their symptoms improve after only one or two sessions.
Above all else, the ethics of the reflexology practitioner call for honesty and transparency with the client regarding the recommended course of treatment .
